'Presently'

-remember, we can use the present continuous to talk about current/present changes in the world..for example, More and more people are blogging!
-After you read the text, watch the video and see what the actual name of this piece should be called...it isn't presently!

‘Presently’
Ed is playing the piano,
People are having unprotected sex,
An opportunity is passing you by,
Justice is being prevented in a court of law,
The light from the star m-5 is heading toward Earth,
The light that left m-5 a thousand years ago is heading to your house,
Guilt is turning someone inside out,
Van Halen is planning an international tour,
You are sitting too close,
People who can’t read are bumming,
The truth is being obscured,
Science is building better tomato,
Pigs are becoming lunch,
Someone is working too hard for minimum wage,
Mike is thinking about a solo project,
Oysters are being robbed of their sole possession,
A man is wandering the streets of the town you live in,
A tired man with a wounded heart is sitting in his coach seat on an eastbound transatlantic flight is wondering how to say ‘dog,’ ‘howl,’ ‘moon,’ in French just in case it comes up,
Time is having its way with you,
Forces are aligning against you,
Someone is walking on a nude beach for the first time,
Our government is doing things we think only other countries do,
Your memory is getting longer, while your life is getting shorter,
People are doing it for money,
We must be going.

Remember try to read the text to 'presently' first before watching!

Warning!! please read the text before watching the video!!!
please read the text slowly..

An important decison!

What would decide if you could have any of the following superpowers; flight, invisibility,or the power to read thoughts? Think about it. I bet at first you thought it was an absurd question, but if you ponder this question more deeply, you might find yourself surprisingly captivated by the idea. The American radio program'This American Life' presented the topic of superheroes this week, and after listening briefly out of politeness, I found myself caught up in the different scenarios of what people would do when they chose thier preferred superpower. I would chose flight. What about you?

Such is the power of an idea, superheroes, and the captivating power of 'This American Life,' on NPR.
